Despite being a massive financial and sales success, the saga of Cyberpunk 2077 is something else. The game launched with major technical issues that developer CD Projekt RED has been trying to address with updates. Now, though, a new chapter of craziness is being written which will delay that further.
The game’s next major update, 1.2, was recently announced to be delayed due to recent cyber attack. Well, it seems the impact of that is more far reaching than you’d expect. According to a new report from Bloomberg, developers from the company have been locked out of their workstations. Since CDPR is refusing to comply with ransom demands, they have frozen accounts in order to stop more compromising of personal information over the last two weeks. While it’s obviously the best course of action, it also seems that for many, it means that work on the game’s updates have largely stopped.
At the beginning of the year, the company outlined plans for updates and native versions for the PS5, Xbox Series X/S. With this situation, however, it seems that most likely will be pushed back.
