There was some disappointment at the announcement that Cyberpunk 2077, the next game from acclaimed developer CD Projekt RED, wouldn’t be playable to the public at E3. It also put some degree of doubt on whether the game would be out this year if it wasn’t ready for a public playthrough. It seems, though, that that’s probably not a major concern, as the studio has said that the game is very much in full development and moving full speed ahead, and there could be more coming soon.
In CD Projekt RED’s financial reports, CFO Piotr Nielubowicz offered an update on Cyberpunk 2077, saying that development is at full speed now with over 400 developers working hard on the title. Interestingly, he also mentions that they have an exciting line up in store for E3 this June. Could it be hinting at more than Cyberpunk on the slate?
‘The development of our next flagship game – Cyberpunk 2077 – is proceeding at full speed, with over 400 people currently involved in the project,” he said. “In the first quarter, the Group spent 25 million PLN on development of new videogames and technologies for a cumulative balance of Research & Development expenditures of 264 million PLN.
“The most important E3 fair in the Group’s history is upon us. We have a truly exciting line-up and cannot wait to present it! For the first time in our history, we will also be showcasing Cyberpunk 2077 at our public stand.
“As June is shaping up to be a very exciting month, I invite you to participate in this event, and also to follow our activities on social media and on cdprojekt.com.”
Cyberpunk 2077 is currently announced for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. We don’t have a release date yet, with perhaps that coming at E3, as the developer said it will be the most important one for them yet.
