Cyberpunk 2077 – Update 2.0 Police System Includes MaxTac Mini-Boss

The UI will receive a Heat indicator, going up to five Stars. Players will also have more clarity on whether Night City PD is still in pursuit.

Cyberpunk 2077’s massive expansion Phantom Liberty launches later in September for current-gen consoles. Those who aren’t taking the plunge can try out Update 2.0, free for all players. It revamps melee combat, enemy AI, cyberware and the police system.

The developer gave more details about Night City PD in a new article. “We rebuilt the system on clear, simple rules: criminal activity is punished, runners are chased, and cyberpsychos are flatlined, no questions asked. All features in the system are designed to support clarity and the simple but expanded prevention loop.”

In the UI, you now have Heat, divided into five Stars. It’s essentially the Wanted Level from Grand Theft Auto, with threats escalating as you gain more Heat. Eventually, MaxTac will get involved in a “surprise” mini-boss experience (with different archetypes for the same).

Thankfully, the player will have more clarity on whether the police are in pursuit. Leaving a crime scene and staying out of sight is key, and you’ll notice non-playable characters exiting in more natural and intuitive ways.

Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty and Update 2.0 arrive on September 26th for Xbox Series X/S, PS5 and PC. Head here for more gameplay of the upcoming expansion.
