Dark Souls 2 and Armored Core: Verdict Day’s PS3 and Xbox 360 Servers Are Shutting Down on March 31

Multiplayer will no longer be available following the servers' shutdown, but players will, of course, still be able to play solo.

Games losing their multiplayer components years on from their releases is far from an uncommon occurrence, and another couple of decade-old games’ servers will soon be shutting down- on some platforms, at any rate.

FromSoftware has announced via the official Dark Souls Twitter account that the online servers for Dark Souls 2’s PS3 and Xbox 360 servers will be shutting down a little over three months from now, on March 31, 2024, at 5 AM Pacific Time.

That means players on those platforms will no longer be able to play online past that date, though single player will, of course, remain unaffected. Meanwhile, FromSoftware has also confirmed that the game’s online servers on PS4, Xbox One, and PC will remain unaffected.

Additionally, FromSoftware has also announced that on the same day, Armored Core: Verdict Day’s online servers on PS3 and Xbox 360 will be shutting down as well, which means only solo play will be available beyond that. Unlike Dark Souls 2, Armored Core: Verdict Day isn’t available on any other platforms, which means it’s effectively losing its multiplayer permanently.
