Days Gone has been met with largely mixed reception since launch. On Opencritic it currently sits at a score of 72, and though that is by no means the most terrible score in the world, it does stand in stark contrast with the universally acclaimed exclusives Sony’s first and second party studios have largely put out over the last four or five years.
But though there’s been plenty of criticism for various aspects of the game, by that same token, there’s been praise as well- that’s what “mixed” means, after all. A recently released accolades trailer for the open world title focuses on the latter, highlighting positive reviews from various publications that praise the game’s combat, immersion, open world, and more. Take a look below.
Our own review of Days Gone criticised the game’s generic nature and technical deficiencies, among other things, but mostly found it a fun and engaging experience thanks to a systems-based open world that encourages emergent gameplay. Read our full review through here.
The mixed reception doesn’t seem to have had much impact on the game’s sales though- at least at launch. Days Gone debuted on top of UK charts, where it beat out stiff competition from fellow debutant Mortal Kombat 11. In doing so, it also became the best retail launch for game in the UK for 2019 so far.
