Bohemia Interactive is still adamant that survival hit DayZ will be launching on Microsoft’s Xbox One family of systems this year, be it as a Game Preview like PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds or as a full release. But that 2018 window seems a lot closer now that a build has been shown off at GDC.
In a series of tweets, the team answered some of the burning questions players are having about the game. They confirmed that on the Xbox One X, the build they have is ‘peaking’ at 50 to 60 frames per second at 1080p. They also revealed plans for the game to have a 4K resolution option that runs at 30fps. Nothing was said about how the base Xbox One would run the game.
While some other smaller details were confirmed like the existence and continued work on a PS4 version, and modding support being added to PC during beta, the other headline here is that the team isn’t looking at supporting cross play with PC. They cited balance concerns instead of any actual technical constraints, which probably means they don’t want Keyboard and Mouse players to wipe the floor with console players.
