Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster Features Classic and Standard Controls

The Classic controls mimic the Xbox 360 version and HD re-release, while Standard allows for aiming while moving and remapping buttons.

Capcom’s Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster trends closer to a remaster than a full-fledged remake of the 2006 classic. However, it sports numerous visual enhancements, quality-of-life features, and new photography features. Thanks to recent hands-on preview from IGN, it’s also confirmed to feature classic and modern controls.

Dubbed Classic and Standard, the former follows the controls from the original Xbox 360 release and its re-release in 2016. The latter is new and provides improvements like moving while aiming. It also allows for remapping buttons, which isn’t possible with the Classic setup. Whether Capcom will allow for some mixed approach (like Konami with Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater) remains to be seen.

Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster launches on September 19th for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC. A physical edition launches for consoles on November 8th. A recent Director’s Report video provided extensive new gameplay, showcasing many changes and improvements in action. Check it out here, or read our feature for additional details.
