The Dead Space remake is out now, and though it’s still early days, it’s already clear that EA and developer Motive Studio have succeeded in bringing the beloved survival horror franchise back with a bang. Naturally, questions are going to be asked about what lies ahead for the franchise- are we in for a remake of Dead Space 2, or can we expect a full-fledged new entry? Based on an easter egg discovered in the newly-released remake, it seems EA might be planning on the former.
Dead Space’s New Game Plus features some additional, new content that wasn’t present in the original game, including some new text logs that can be found throughout the USG Ishimura. As spotted by GameSpot, one of these logs covers two characters conversing about looking for new job opportunities due to the Ishimura’s upcoming decommissioning. Interestingly, the conversation veers to potentially taking up jobs on the Sprawl on Titan Station.
The Sprawl, of course, is a massive city-sized space station that serves as the setting for Dead Space 2. Is the new text log just an easter egg paying tribute to the survival horror sequel, or is Motive Studio hinting that, much like the characters conversing in the text log, they, too, could be headed to the Sprawl? Given the fact that the log is a new addition in the remake, some might assume that it’s the latter.
Of course, for now, Motive Studio is confirmed to be working on a AAA single player action-adventure Iron Man game. Unlikely Dead Space, which was built using EA’s internal Frostbite engine, the Iron Man game is reportedly using Unreal Engine.
Dead Space is available on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. Read our review of the game through here– spoilers: we loved it.
