Motive Studios’ Dead Space remake was rumored to be targeting Fall 2022 release. However, Electronic Arts is now internally targeting an early 2023 release. This is according to VentureBeat’s Jeff Grubb who reports that the company originally considered an October 2022 time frame, though it was never publicly announced.
For now, the developer is looking to use the extra time for polish and to “wow” fans. The overall goal is to have a remake akin to Resident Evil 2 (2019) in quality, which lines up with the developer reportedly taking notes from Capcom’s remakes. A development update will be coming tomorrow, which could happen during the recently announced developer livestream.
As it stands, the remake is impressing people internally which is a great sign. Dead Space is in development for Xbox Series X/S, PS5 and PC. Along with visual improvements, it will feature new dismemberment and Zero-G mechanics. Stay tuned for more details with tomorrow’s livestream at 10 AM PST.
