Hideo Kojima and his team at Kojima Productions love to push the envelope with their games’ technical and visual aspects, and unsurprisingly, it looks like Death Stranding 2 will continue that trend. While we haven’t yet seen much of the game, the people behind it seem to be confident that it’s going to make significant technical advancements over its predecessor.
A new episode of Hideo Kojima’s Brain Structure podcast was recently uploaded, with actor Elle Fanning – who’s confirmed to have major role in Death Stranding 2 – coming on as a guest. While speaking about Kojima Productions’ technology for the game’s development, she said (via GamesRadar), “[Kojima] always say ‘this isn’t done, this is not what it’s gonna look like at all’. But then I look at it and I’m like, ‘it looks pretty amazing.’ But in his mind it’s ‘oh my god, it’s going to be so much better, don’t even look at this.”
“[It] already looks so outstanding, it looks so real, but I know it’s going to get so much better,” she added.
Kojima himself briefly spoke about the topic as well, saying that though there isn’t much he can reveal yet, Death Stranding 2 does use “new technology” – which is something he recently spoke about on Twitter – which will help improve the game’s technical aspects. He said: “I can’t reveal too much right now. But we’ve been using a new technology this time around, so I think the scanning process was a bit difficult, but Elle had fun with it.”
Death Stranding 2 is in development for PS5. Sony and Kojima Productions haven’t announced release date yet, though it’s been suggested that it could launch in 2024.
