Death Stranding Enters UK Charts In Second Place, 2nd Biggest Exclusive Launch This Year

Death Stranding is unable to outmatch Days Gone's launch sales.

As the biggest new release last week (and among the biggest game releases this side of 2010, period), Death Stranding is expected to do well in terms of sales. In the UK, as per data provided by UKIE / Gfk Chart-Track (via GamesIndustry), it hasn’t disappointed, debuting in the charts at second place, with just two days on the market.

Death Stranding has also become the second biggest new IP launch and the second biggest exclusive launch in PS4 this year. Leading the way in both those areas is fellow PS4 exclusive Days Gone, which sold 36 per cent more copies than Death Stranding at launch. Meanwhile, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare retains the top spot, occupying that space for the third week running, and is currently tracking ahead of Black Ops 4’s sales at this time last year by 26 per cent.

Luigi’s Mansion 3 has dropped down to fourth place, after debuting in second place last week, trailing FIFA 20 in third place. Need for Speed Heatwhich also had two days on the market, has debuted in fifth place, though the downward trajectory of sales for the series continues, with Heat 41 per cent less boxed units than 2017’s Payback at launch.
