Death Stranding Gameplay Footage Was Recently Shown To Guerrilla Games, Left Them “Speechless”

"Beautiful", "thrilling", "masterful", and a whole lot of other superlatives have been spotted in tweets.

Kojima Productions’ Death Stranding owes at least some of its existence to Horizon: Zero Dawn and Killzone developers Guerrilla Games. Though you probably know this by now, in case you don’t, the engine that is being used for the development of the game, the Decima Engine, was built by the Netherlands-based studio, and is the very same one they used in 2017’s Horizon as well. As such, given that fact, it’s really no surprise that Kojima was recently over at Guerrilla Games to show them footage (that presumably none of us have ever seen before) from his upcoming game- and what he showed off was apparently very well received by those who saw it.

A bunch of Guerrilla Games employees have recently taken to Twitter to talk about the footage that they saw, and they’ve all had nothing but good things to say about the game. From studio head Herman Hulst, to director of Horizon: Zero Dawn Mathijs de Jonge, to lead combat designer Denis Zopfi, and many others, they’ve all been using plenty of superlatives to describe whatever it was that they saw. You can take a look at some of these tweets below.

Of course, Guerrilla Games aren’t the only ones who’ve been lucky enough to be treated with exclusive viewings of the game. Apparently, God of War director Cory Barlog has seen private gameplay of Death Stranding as well. Death Stranding itself is without release date, but there have been more than a few reports recently that it might be out sooner than we think- so stay tuned for more updates.
