Death Stranding – Hideo Kojima Explains How “Connections” Helped Make the Game A Reality

And how he used that to turn it into one of the game's central themes.

“Connection” is a big thing with Death Stranding. Not only is it a central theme in the game’s narrative, it’s also something that’s defined much of the behind-the-scenes work in the game, to the extent that Hideo Kojima says development on the game would not have been possible were it not for his connections with fans and with peers in the industry.

In a new video uploaded by Sony, Hideo Kojima goes into detail about that, talking about how when Kojima Productions started out after splitting from Konami, it was these connections that allowed Death Stranding’s development to kick off. From his work with several Hollywood actors to the aid provided by Guerrilla Games with the engine (and even with the development, as it turns out), connections allowed Kojima to kick things off, and it went on to become a central theme in the game itself as well. Take a look at the full video below.

Death Stranding is out for the PS4 on November 8, and will launch on PC in Summer 2020. You can read our review of the game through here.
