Hideo Kojima says that when he first explained the concept of Death Stranding and what he wanted to do with the game to his team at Kojima Productions, no one understood him. In an E3 Coliseum Panel in which he spoke with film director Jordan Vogt-Roberts (who is also slated to direct the Metal Gear Solid film) about the films that influenced him as a game-maker, Kojima spoke briefly about how he pitched his upcoming game to his team, and how they reacted to his ideas.
“Every time I think of a plan, I explain what I’m thinking for the game system,” Kojima said through a translator. “The first people I explain this to is my team. For Death Stranding, I started explaining a year ago to the team what I wanted to make. No one got it! Because I was trying to make something new and something different. So for me, I personally think that if people are opposed to you, then you’re on the right track. That’s game making for me.”
Well, we can’t blame them, really. We’ve seen two trailers of the game so far, and even though Kojima has been fairly tight-lipped about his game other than those two trailers, we still don’t understand what it is. Whatever it is, though, we do know that we need to play it as quickly as Kojima can give it to us.
Thanks, Gamesradar!
