Death Stranding Video Talks About the Design of the Mysterious and Terrifying BTs

Don't talk. Don't even breathe.

Death Stranding is out in just a few hours from now, bringing to an end years of anticipation, and when it launches, players will be diving into its mysterious, deadly, and dangerous world. And of the many dangers you’ll e squaring off against in Death Stranding’s world, the most terrifying of them all are the spectral beings known as Beached Things, or BTs.

Sony have been releasing new behind-the-scenes videos talking about various aspects of Death Stranding’s development in the build up to its launch. After speaking about its themes of connections and about the protagonist, Sam Porter Bridges, in a new video, Hideo Kojima talks about the BTs, and about how they were designed, conceptualized, and implemented in the game to invoke a fear of the unknown and the unseen in the players. Take a look below.

I can tell you without reservations that Death Stranding’s BTs are, without a doubt, one of the game’s biggest strengths. In our review, we complimented the BT sections and their terrifying nature, calling them “a stroke of horror genius” and praising them for their “incredibly tense and thrilling” nature. Death Stranding is out tomorrow for the PS4. A PC release will follow in Summer of 2020, handled by 505 Games.
