Death Stranding Was Originally Called ‘Dead Stranding’, As Per Early Sketch

Hideo Kojima shares an interesting tidbit of info.

Hideo Kojima likes to be active on social media, and his activity often reveals interesting pieces of trivia about his games- most recently, for Death Stranding. The open world title might be (nearly) two months old at this point, but the game’s director has been on Twitter of late showing ideas he and the development team had been throwing around early in the game’s production.

Recently, Kojima shared a piece of concept art of the game on Twitter- a sketch by the game’s lead artist Yoji Shinkawa, showing soldiers in gear and with weapons. It does, of course, look very reminiscent of the things we would go on to see in Death Stranding itself, but more interesting is the fact that – as some text on the sketch shows – early on in the game’s pre-production period, it was originally being called Dead Stranding– which just doesn’t have the same ring to it (which is probably why they changed it).

Death Stranding is out now on PS4, and will be releasing on PC this Summer. Meanwhile, Kojima is already thinking of ideas for his next game- read more on that through here.
