We’ve been talking a lot about Death Stranding recently. In fact, not so long ago, we wrote a speculative piece on how far along into the development process we thought the game is, and just when we might get to see more of it. We predicted that there might be something to feast our eyes on in December, and if these latest reports are to be believed, that might just be truer than a lot of people may have imagined.
Hideo Kojima recently appeared on the Brazillian TV show The Noite, and in an interview, he revealed quite a lot of stuff. An English transcription of the interview was posted on Reddit, and as per the translation, the entire game is possibly already playable. Kojima confirmed that the game is currently in the detailing stage of development, with the majority of the groundwork already done, though the team keeps making changes and adding new stuff as they move along in the process. Kojima compared this stage of development to the process of editing in movies.
All the characters in the game and the work surrounding them has also been completed, and Kojima confirmed that they’ve all been scanned for motion capture as well. He confirmed that the development of the game is going according to plan, and that as such, it will release on schedule as well (though we still don’t know when that will be). Kojima also spoke a bit about the game itself, confirming that Death Stranding is going to be tonally dark and surreal (which we’ve all already gathered so far), while commenting that the game will be set in the near and alternative future and will have a ecological theme.
It is definitely looking more and more likely that we’ll get to see some proper, substantial footage of Death Stranding in December, either at the Video Game Awards, or at PSX. There have been reports suggesting the same as well. Stay tuned to GamingBolt for continued coverage on the game.
