Since the moment it was first announced, Hideo Kojima has insisted that with Death Stranding, he’s creating a game in a completely new genre that will be unlike anything else we’ve ever played. He’s often tried (clumsily) to explain what that genre is, but we’ve had no actual gameplay footage to go on, and as a result, have had to rely on his word.
That’ll be changing in just a few hours, when Kojima debuts nearly 50 minutes of new gameplay footage to explain what the basic mechanics and core loop of Death Stranding are going to be. However, Kojima has taken to Twitter to clarify that the reveal is only being done for those who still remain unconvinced about the game.
Kojima says that he wants players to enjoy the game with as little prior knowledge of what they’re getting into as possible, and be able to experience it all and discover what it is by themselves. In other words, he recommends not watching the imminent gameplay reveal if you’re going to play Death Stranding anyway. If, however, you need some convincing, the upcoming reveal might change your mind.
Death Stranding is out exclusively for the PS4 on November 8.
