If you pre-loaded the Destiny 2 beta client last week – as pre-orders who received early access could do – then you’ll notice that a new update is available. The PS4 version requires a 12.6 GB download and that will contain all of the beta’s content for when it goes live.
Bungie also outlined the PlayStation Plus and Xbox Live Gold requirements for playing the beta. While the story mission “Homecoming” will be available to all players, the Crucible and Inverted Spire Strike will require a subscription to PS Plus or Gold. Which pretty much lines up with Destiny’s requirements for the same since those aspects required matchmaking with other players.
Destiny 2’s beta will begin its early access phase on July 18th, 10 AM PT for PS4 pre-orders while Xbox One pre-orders can start on July 19th. The open beta begins for everyone on July 21st and concludes on July 23rd. As for the PC beta, you’ll have to wait till late August.
Destiny 2 will meanwhile be out on September 6th for Xbox One and PS4 with the PC version out on October 24th.
