Bungie is no stranger to reusing assets from previous releases for Destiny 2. Several parts of the European Dead Zone call to mind Widow’s Court, a Crucible map from Destiny 1. Mars in Warmind reuses assets from the first game in terms of environments and structures. Even House of Wolves’ Prison of Elders got nice little cameo appearance in a Destiny 2: Forsaken Strike called “Warden of Nothing”.
So given the ending of Destiny 2, it only makes sense that the Dreadnaught – Oryx’s ship from The Taken King – also makes return. Reddit user AlanahNahNah reported playing a Daily Heroic Adventure, where the loading sequence culminated in the Dreadnaught, still orbiting around Saturn. Even the iconic Taken King music played as the ship seemingly flew into the location before the player was transported back to the actual game.
The clip itself can be seen on Twitter, but the full video, as captured with the Xbox One’s DVR function, can be viewed here for further proof. It’s worth noting that Bungie hasn’t hinted or officially confirmed if the Dreadnaught would be returning. Could future content like Black Armory, Joker’s Wild, or Penumbra feature it as new mission, if not a new location? It’s certainly possible, though once again, we’ll have to wait for more information. Take this with some degree of skepticism before getting too hyped.
