In case you saw the title of the video and thought Bungie finally announced ranked competitive multiplayer for Destiny 2, then alas we have some bad news. The actual gameplay video showcases Crucible gameplay with each new sub-class – Arcstrider, Sentinel and Dawnblade – in action. We get a look at some beta weapons as well as completely new guns.
Destiny 2’s Crucible will have some new modes, namely Survival (essentially Team Deathmatch with limited number of respawns for each team) and Countdown (objective round-based mode where players alternate between attacking and defending). Control returns but with a few changes like pre-captured points for each spawn side. Unfortunately, all PvP modes are 4v4, leaving Rumble aka Free For All in the dust.
Destiny 2 will be releasing on September 6th for Xbox One and PS4 with the PC version out on October 24th. Fortunately, PC players will get a crack at the beta on August 29th when it’s available for all. Though it ends on August 31st, pre-ordering players can gain early access on August 28th.
