Bungie’s Destiny has had its ups and downs, especially with Rise of Iron having released, but expect Destiny 2 to be different according to rumours.
A NeoGAF user who spoke to an Activision source discussed the changes coming in Destiny 2 including a PC version that Vicarious Visions was helping with. Raid matchmaking is apparently a thing but overall Destiny 2 will be a brand new game rather than another expansion.
Industry insider shinobi602 chimed in and noted that Destiny 2 would indeed come to PC and that its delay was to ensure more iteration. The main reason for so much overhauling was to ensure bigger narrative changes, a focus on Saturn as a playspace (with the Cabal involved) and more open spaces like towns and outposts. This would make things similar to World of Warcraft where players could line up for activities while continuing to play rather than waiting at a loading screen. Changes to rendering have also been made and both strikes and raids have been confirmed.
The new tools will also ensure more constant updates apparently. Older areas from Destiny may make a return but that remains to be seen since playspaces are currently being designed to be bigger and full of more activities. New factions, factions and more enemies – like Psions being fleshed out – in Destiny 2.
