Bungie’s sequel to Destiny, the imaginatively named Destiny 2, saw its poster leak today courtesy of GameStop Italy. The poster indicated a release date of September 8th and the possibility of beta access should you pre-order. Should you be skeptical of the leak’s nature?
As per Kotaku’s Jason Schreier, who’s been spot on with numerous Destiny leaks in the past from The Taken King’s announcement to Rise of Iron, it’s real. Schreier said on Twitter that, “Yes, the Destiny 2 poster is real. Should be announced today.”
That could mean any number of things of course from a CG trailer to a gameplay teaser. Bungie already confirmed that it was working on Destiny 2 before 2016 ended so it would be kind of strange to announce that it was still in development. Then again, it could use the announcement to confirm the release date and beta access.
Destiny 2 is currently scheduled to release on Xbox One, PS4 and PC.
Update: Schreier has since posted on an update, stating that, “Important correction: Destiny 2 might not be announced *today*. Will be soon, though. (Yes, poster is real.)”
