Destiny 2 – Update 2.7.1 Coming Next Week, Fixes Some Performance Issues

UI stuttering, framerate issues, and more will be addressed in a future patch.

Bungie’s Destiny 2 has been in a weird spot since the launch of Forsaken. Technical issues have piled over time, especially for consoles which experience significant loading times for menus and lag when applying shaders and such. Thankfully, it seems some performance improvements will be coming in update 2.7.1 with other future fixes outlined.

Some of the improvements include better performance when messages for certain investment objectives – like tributes or Obelisk interactions – are received. An issue that caused a black screen to appear for way too long when loading into a Crucible match has also been addressed. Now all players will remain in space until everyone has loaded into a match as opposed to pushing people who loaded faster ahead.

Some of the fixes that are currently in the works and require testing include the following:

  • UI stuttering and framerate drops when loading or applying mods
  • Framerate issues in Gambit and Gambit Prime
  • Framerate issues during the Sanctified Mind encounter of the Garden of Salvation Raid
  • Framerate issues in the Pit of Heresy Dungeon, specifically in tunnel encounters
  • General improvements to performance on PC when a lot of debris is on the ground

It’s possible that these improvements arrive in the next few weeks or even by the time Season 10 rolls around. We’ll have to wait and see. In the meantime, Bungie also breaks down the process behind developing the Corridors of Time puzzle (which will be going away soon so hurry up and get that lore).
