Have you made a second or third Warlock in Destiny 2, just to take advantage of additional loot drops in the Nightfall and/or Raid? Have you been bamboozled by the sheer lack of anything higher than your current gear? As it turns out, Bungie isn’t interested in you playing the same class with its sequel.
When players received Luminous Engrams, the weekly rewards for completing tasks, they’re usually meant to receive items that are much higher than their current Power Level. When this didn’t happen, they took to the forums to complain and community manager Cozmo provided response.
“I spoke with the dev team about this. They said that secondary characters of the same class don’t get the weekly power bonus. They didn’t want to force players to have three of the same class to create the optimal way to increase their power level.”
This sounds more like a way to pad out the content and prevent players from hitting max Power Level to tackle the Raid or Nightfall. And what if people like having more than one of the same class to run the same activities and still receive rewards? It’s a strange decision, especially considering all the other strange decisions Bungie has made with Destiny 2.
