A “new” range of Exotics is available in Bungie’s Destiny 2, courtesy of the literally snake-faced Xur. Of course, these items have been available in the game for a while but new players may still get some use out of them. Xur can be found in the Winding Cove in the EDZ where he will remain until tomorrow’s weekly reset.
The Colony returns as the Exotic weapon of choice, costing 29 Legendary Shards. It’s a heavy grenade launcher that fires projectiles that travel across the ground and seek enemies. Ammo is automatically refilled when the weapon is holstered for some time. Overall, not the best weapon for PvE or PvP but not the worst.
This week’s Exotic armor includes Young Ahamkara’s Spine (Hunter gloves), Synthoceps (Titan gloves) and Phoenix Protocol (Warlock chest), each for 23 Legendary Shards. Young Ahamkara’s Spine is a must for Gunslingers rocking Tripmines since it increases their duration and blast radius. Synthoceps are a must for Titans in PvP since they grant increased melee lunge range along with increased melee and Super damage when surrounded.
Finally, there’s Phoenix Protocol, a must for Well of Radiance Warlocks since any kills or assists made while standing in it will return Super energy. It’s not as incredibly overpowered as when it first launched but remains one of the go-to Exotics for increasing the Super’s uptime.
