Following the weekly reset, a new Crucible mode is available for Bungie’s Destiny 2. Categorized as a Competitive PvP mode, Breakthrough is currently available as the weekly featured Crucible playlist. If you own Forsaken, then it’s accessible in Private matches as well.
The mode comprises of two teams, each with their own vaults. First the teams fight over a common zone, which must be captured to deploy the Breaker. Whichever team controls the breaker must use it to hack the opposing team’s vault. The opposing team, naturally, has to stop them. Once the vault is hacked, a timer will count down. If the controlling team successfully hacks the vault, it wins the round.
However, if the hack fails or the opposing team stops them, then the latter wins the round. Best of three rounds wins the match. Breakthrough will join the general Competitive playlist on October 2nd, and also comes with new maps like Equinox, Firebase Echo, and Citadel (PS4 owners will also receive Gambler’s Ruin). The recently released Convergence will also be playable in Breakthrough.
