With its recent update this week, Bungie added Nightfall Strike Scoring and Prestige Nightfall Challenge Cards to Destiny 2. Players who racked up the most number of points could compete for emblem variants and auras (which were also added for Prestige Raid and Crucible activities). While not the biggest infusion of content, it did provide some modicum of entertainment during the Prestige Nightfall especially with how challenging it was.
However, players realized that the base Nightfall modifiers – like Momentum, Attrition, Torrent and Prism – had been removed. So if you played the regular Nightfall, it was little more than a tougher version of the same Strike with beefier enemies.
Bungie addressed the removal of base Nightfall modifiers in its recent weekly update, stating that, “The removal of the base modifiers from Nightfall is because we want to emphasize core combat in this initial release and let the community define the meta for a high-scoring Nightfall run. We can certainly revisit the modifiers in the future – they’re not dead and buried. Open to player feedback.”
It did note the removal of modifiers from Heroic Mercury Adventures for some players was unintended. “We are currently investigating an issue where Heroic Mercury Adventure modifiers are not appearing for some players. This was not intentional, and we’ll update you on the status of the issue when we have more information.”
More Destiny 2 updates coming even if the player base has witnessed a steady decline since launch. The developer also provided information on upcoming sandbox changes for modes like Iron Banner.
