Destiny 3 Will Have Playable Europa, More RPG Focus – Rumor

Some good things may be planned for Destiny 3.

Destiny 2 was a bit of a problem child at launch, alienating long time fans while failing to retain newcomers. Bungie has only recently managed to turn the game around with Destiny 2: Forsaken (mirroring the redemption of the original Destiny with The Taken King). One would hope that given the problems the Destiny franchise has gone through until now (it has had to be bailed out by an expansion both times), Bungie would be more careful about how it goes about with Destiny 3.

Based on the rumors posted by known Destiny leaker AnonTheNine on Reddit, it seems like Bungie might actually be listening to feedback, and have something interesting planned for the next game. He reports, among other things, that Europa will be playable location in the next game, that the game will have more RPG elements than Forsaken, that it will have PvPvE patrol zones (which isn’t that big of leap from the new Gambit mode introduced to the game with Forsaken), and that Luke Smith is no longer directing the game, with Chris Barrett taking over.

He also confirms that the game has only now begun development, which means we may not see it next year (and may see another expansion instead). Hopefully, these rumors are true, and Destiny 3 ends up building on Forsaken, rather than throwing it out the window in a misguided attempt at a fresh start.

Destiny 2 is out now on PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
