Destiny: Bungie Teams With YouTuber to Simulate The Traveller’s Arrival on Earth

Weather balloon goes up.

Bungie is pulling out all the stops with its marketing for Destiny. On top of the gameplay trailers and constant teasing, the developer also unveiled an epic live-action trailer that was corny as it was awesome. Today it revealed an interesting little stunt it arranged UK YouTuber Alan Ismail or ‘MoreConsole’. Ismail essentially rigged a weather balloon to travel into orbit, near the outermost atmosphere of the Earth, to simulate the arrival of the Traveller. That’s the nice guy in Destiny. Check it out above.

The Traveller’s arrival is essentially what caused the Golden Age. Once the Darkness arrived, the Traveller went into a sort of slumber and now hovers over the only safe city on Earth.

Ismail stated that, “What better way to celebrate the Traveller, which plays a crucial role in the story of Destiny, than by bringing one of the most iconic images of the entire campaign to life? I’m excited to have created something unique that celebrates the scale and vision of the game. I imagine seeing the Traveller actually hovering over Earth will get lots of gamers in the mood to finally start playing for real when the game goes on sale next Tuesday.”

Destiny is out on September 9th. Ready to become legend? Let us know below.
