Destiny Future DLC Plans for “Later Announcement”, Live Team in Charge of Year Two

Bungie community manager David Dague offers some vague new details.

Bungie’s Destiny is finally receiving one of the more requested features from fans, namely Sparrow Racing. However, given the timing of the announcement and how old The Taken King expansion is at this point, many are left wondering whether there will be traditional DLC some time in the future.

IGN spoke to community manager David “DeeJ” Dague about the prospect of “traditional” DLC for the year. Dague replied, “Right now we’re doing Sparrow racing. As for what Destiny Year Two holds, that’s for a later announcement.”

Will Bungie be focusing more on limited time events or big content drops going forward? “The live team is fully in charge of what happens in Destiny Year Two. They’ve got some tricks up their sleeve and right now, it’s Sparrow Racing League. We’re having a lot of fun surprising players with new and interesting experiences.

“We’re having a lot of fun doing things that they might not anticipate. Things that will change they way they relate to the game and characters in the Tower and just the living world in the game itself. I’m actually having a lot of fun surprising the players with those moments and I’m going to leave those announcements to a later date,” said Dague.

Just for kicks, a fan asked Dague if there would be a new class in the future. The reply? “Sure. A possibility in the future? Sure but these are very, very vague questions, long timelines, anything is possible. There is nothing but a world of possibilities that we can design on and iterate on. I think if there’s one thing we’ve come to prove it’s that the world of Destiny will evolve and will change on a long enough timeline.”
