Bungie released a new hotfix for Destiny to fix a number of issues with quests, loot chests and whatnot. The full patch notes can be gleaned here.
In short, if you were playing the original Prison of Elders modes for loot and weren’t getting anything from the chests, then you’ll be happy to know this has been fixed. The quest “With Finesse and Speed” has also been fixed so it can now be completed and Ghosts dropping in the Nightfall will now drop above your Light level.
The biggest change however is the introduction of a fix to melee hit registration. Though it was included with this hotfix, it will be “manually toggled” on May 10th, 10 AM PST. As per the notes, the bug would “start a melee target search from an incorrect position, frequently coming up short and causing the melee attack to whiff”. The patch will essentially “adjust melee strike validation logic and player position networking during melee attacks,” allowing hits to land more reliably.
We’ll see how it works when the fix goes live on May 10th so stay tuned.
