Bungie’s Destiny had an incredible debut in the UK as the week’s UKIE game charts revealed that it was the biggest new IP launch in the history of the country, usurping Watch Dogs’ launch in the process. It’s not enough that it sold $325 million within its first five days but MCV has revealed that Destiny boosted PS4 hardware sales by 300 percent.
It was revealed that the PS4 version occupied the lion’s share of software sales but this is good news for Sony seeing as how it tied up with Activision to exclusively market Destiny in the UK. Gfk Chart-Track confirmed that the previous week was the PS4’s biggest yet in the UK.
Destiny has received mixed critical reception with reviewers praising the gunplay and competitive multiplayer but feeling the content and story somewhat sparse. Bungie has been supporting the game heavily since launch, adding a Raid mission, Crucible playlists and new Live Events since the launch. How are you finding the game thus far?
