Destiny: Rising Takes Places in an Alternate Timeline With New Locations

After The Collapse, humanity takes refuge in Haven under the protection of The Iron Lords. Players control new Guardians who fight back.

NetEase Games’ Destiny: Rising, a mobile adaptation of Bungie’s popular shooter, is real. But where does it fit in the overall canon? In a new Developer Preview, both teams discussed the free-to-play title and its unique facets. Check it out below.

Destiny: Rising occurs in a separate timeline from the current game, set directly after The Collapse, with humanity struggling in the post-Dark Age. The Iron Lords help them get back on their feet and fight against the various hostile races, but it’s ultimately up to some fresh Lightbearers to lead the charge.

Starting at Haven, humanity’s refuge, players will explore new locations like Jiangshi, an “icy, ancient metro”, and the Red Sea Rift with its “arid expanse.” There are new stories to uncover, though the question is: How much of a role does the Darkness play?

We’ll have to wait and find out. Destiny: Rising is coming to iOS and Android with a closed alpha scheduled for November 1st. Head here to pre-register for the same.
