Destiny: The Dark Below Pegged to Include New Shaders for Ships, Armour

Data mining reveals some of the new content Bungie has planned.

Bungie’s Destiny will be receiving its first major expansion in December with The Dark Below and along with new missions, new loot and a new Raid, you’ll also apparently have the benefit of new shaders for vehicles, armour and ships.

This comes by way of DestinyDB (with Planet Destiny having the thumbnails) and the shader data is being described as “code tweaks and mods for more complex armor shaders”. It will be interesting to see just how complex these shaders become – maybe you can colour individual parts of your armour? Other additions include the ship shader, described as “a reverse engineered shell that allows a Shader to interface with ship hull coatings” and the vehicle shader which is “a layer of translation code that allows a shader to interface with vehicle coatings”.

This is good news since now you no longer have to stick with the default shade of your ship or Sparrow. So all those annoyed by their ugly Legendary ships can take heart. We’ll find out what else is being added in the coming weeks.
