Following a disastrous interview with creative director Luke Smith, Bungie has announced that players will have the chance to separately purchase exclusive digital content that will retail with the Destiny: The Taken King Digital Collector’s Edition. In the Bungie Weekly Update, community manager David “DeeJ” Dague clarified that players can purchase the 3 armour shaders, 3 class specific emotes and 3 Exotic class items separately for $20.
This will allow year one players to have access to the content without having to purchase the Collector’s Edition – which includes the first two expansions and the base game which consumers will already own along with The Taken King. It was also announced that those who bought Destiny, The Dark Below and House of Wolves while having at least one level 30 character would receive some VIP benefits, including a shader, emblem and sparrow, that new players will not have access to.
The Weekly Update also included an apology from Smith for his words, though many fans are still up in arms over the extra content being priced for so high (especially since The Dark Below and House of Wolves each retailed for $20). Thoughts on this? Let us know in the comments.
Destiny: The Taken King is out on September 15th for PS4, PS3, Xbox 360 and Xbox One.
