Destiny The Taken King: Player Claims to Have Shared Over 18,000 Red Bull Codes for Exclusive Content

There's an argument to be had whether the people making these codes are helping or hurting.

While the deal between Bungie and Red Bull seemed like a good idea at the time, some enterprising gamers have found a way to mess it all up. As was previously reported, the deal was that Redbull would include codes in its products that could be used to get special missions or items in the upcoming Destiny: The Taken King DLC. The problem is that people figured out how to make their own codes, that anyone could redeem and this in turn made mess out of the whole process.

One particular user, calling himself TheTakenSkullOwnz has personally said that he was able to duplicate, create and hand out more than 18,000 codes. He took to recent Reddit subthread and talked about just how easy it is to create these codes. “Any basic programmer would be able to generate these codes, it’s a complete joke,” he said. Another user corroborated the statement by saying he was giving away ‘hundreds of Red Bull codes every minute’.

The same user has also claimed that he’s come up with a new method that will make another 50,000 codes. He plans to release these codes at any minute. ‘The combination of which they generated these codes is a complete disaster,’ he said, ‘I’m shocked that such a major company should perform such an error.’ Because of the number of people who have made these codes, TheTakenSkullOwnz was asked whether or not people should buy Redbull just to get the codes. He replied that he felt there was a very high probability that the codes would not work.
