Destiny The Taken King Story Footage Reveals Recycled Environments

Thought everything would be new in the upcoming expansion? Think again.

Bungie’s next expansion for Destiny has been revealed with The Taken King and a new interview with community manager David “DeeJ” Dague featuring some new gameplay footage is now available courtesy of PlayStation’s YouTube channel.

However, what’s more interesting than the actual interview is the footage in background because it reveals something that Bungie has already received plenty of flak for – reusing environments from previous missions for new missions. This particular environment forms a large part of the Eye of the Gate Lord mission on Venus from the base game though you ultimately end up taking a detour into what seems to be a new area (for the boss fight, which is a large Harpy/Gorgon).

Yes, there will be new environments in the form of Phobos and Oryx’s Dreadnought but not everything is going to be brand spanking new.

The footage also contains gameplay and details from the new gameplay modes Mayhem Clash and Rift, both which look like fun. Destiny’s The Taken King is out on September 15th for PS4, Xbox One, PS3
