Destiny to Introduce Matchmaking for Weekly Heroic Strikes

Patch 1.1.1 takes the first steps towards matchmaking for Weekly Heroics.

In its latest Weekly Update, Bungie revealed that its online shooter Destiny would be receiving matchmaking features for its Weekly Heroic Strikes in patch 1.1.1.

According to design lead M.E. Chung, “We wanted the Weekly Heroics to be a challenge that pushed you and your buddies, but what we observed was that these strikes don’t demand the same cooperation of a cohesive pre-made group.

“The overwhelming community response was such that many players didn’t have the numbers on their friends list to experience the activity on a weekly basis.”

This means that players without a pre-made fireteam won’t be able to solo Heroic Strikes any more. Matchmaking won’t be added to the Nightfall any time soon, due to failure returning the team to orbit, but Bungie is looking into making it easier to help find groups for the same (along with Raids).

A timeframe for the patch is still a bit unknown, though community manager David “DeeJ” Dague is hoping it will be out before February end. What are your thoughts on matchmaking for Weekly Heroics? Let us know in the comments.
