Destiny Update 2.4.0 Brings Numerous Weapon Balance Changes

Universal Remote nerfed.

Destiny went down for maintenance yesterday for an extensive update, 2.4.0, that would prepare the game for the Rise of Iron expansion. This update changed quite a bit for the game but more importantly, it added a bunch of weapon balance changes.

Auto rifles, for instance, have had their max magazine size reduced in the high rate of fire category (which includes guns like Doctrine of Passing) and middle rate of fire ARs have seen a damage buff of 1.5 percent. Pulse rifles see a buff to the rate of fire for the Lyudmila-D while middle rate of fire weapons like Nirwen’s Mercy saw a 2 percent damage buff.

Of course, it wouldn’t be a Bungie weapons update without extensive nerfs. Universal Remote, an Exotic shotgun with greatly increase range when aiming down sights, had its bonus range reduced by 75 percent. It benefits from higher rate of fire but damage has been reduced as well. Thorn has seen a reduced base range of 25 percent (which is not going to help the ghost bullets issue) and you can no longer use Blessing of Light to gain more shots on Touch of Malice, a key strategy in the King’s Fall raid.

At least Fabian Strategy finally got buffed with an increased base range of 16 percent and increased base stability by 44 percent. Check out the full list of balance changes here and let us know what you think in the comments.
