Deus Ex: Mankind Divided Will Have Big, But Dense, Maps

Did I ask for this?

At the Game Developers Conference, Eidos Montréal Graphics Programmer Nicolas Trudel hosted a panel that was mostly about the use of the technology in the upcoming Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, and the graphical techniques that it affords the developers. These facts are generally fascinating from a tech perspective, but for a lot of players, they are ultimately meaningless.

Thankfully, then, Eidos also revealed some information on the game at the event that players will be able to appreciate- for instance, they confirmed that the game will have some pretty big maps, featuring both, indoor and outdoor areas. These maps will not be quite as large as the ones found in modern open world games, but they will be massive regardless.

Nonetheless, this size will not come at the expense of density, as Trudel confirmed that the largest map in the game, which is 1 square kilometer, has 300 million polygons- empty spaces should not be an issue with this game.

Deus Ex: Mankind Divided launches this August on PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
