Eidos Montreal’s Deus Ex: Human Revolution was highly lauded for its single player experience and the sequel Deus Ex: Mankind Divided looks set to follow in its footsteps. But has the developer ever considered implementing a multiplayer mode of some kind?
Gameplay director Patrick Fortier spoke to OXM about the same and stated that the studio isn’t ready for that just yet. “If we were to go in that direction it would have to be the topic of the game itself.
“I don’t think it’s something that can be tacked on and supported sufficiently well through a third party developer, out of the office. It has to be fundamental right from day one that you’re trying to do that. You have to have the right idea and the right vehicle.”
One such comparison that’s been given is to Mass Effect 3’s multiplayer. Will Deus Ex ever have multiplayer? Regardless, Deus Ex: Mankind Divided will be coming to early 2016 for PS4, Xbox One and PC.
