Diablo 4 – Blizzard Is “In the Middle of Prototyping Really Interesting Approaches to PvP”

Blizzard co-founder Allen Adham talks about Diablo 4's approach to PvP.

Blizzard’s making some interesting changes to Diablo’s well-established formula with the upcoming Diablo 4and the one that’s perhaps the most interesting of them all is the game’s MMO-esque shared open world approach. It does seem like a natural evolution for the series, and if it’s executed well, it could really escalate the experience to exciting heights.

One of the things it ties into nicely is PvP, which is something that has always been an integral part of Diablo, but could change in interesting ways with the upcoming sequel. And it seems Blizzard is currently in the middle of locking in an interesting approach to PvP content for the game.

“PvP is something we’ve been thinking about and working on since the very first Diablo,” Blizzard’s co-founder Allen Adham said while speaking with EDGE in their January 2020 issue (issue 340). “It’s something that’s been a long time coming – you’ll have to go back to Diablo II to find it. We’re in the middle of prototyping some really interesting approaches to player versus player – and we’re just about to lock them in.”

Diablo 4 is currently in development for PC and consoles, but it’s probably a long, long way off from release yet. That said, Blizzard have promised a “cool” update on the game in February 2020, while rumours also say we could be in line for beta next year. Make sure to check out some gameplay of the Barbarian and Druid classes, along with a World Boss battle against Ashava.
