DICE reaffirms future Battlefield: Bad Company plans

DICE producer Patrick Liu said sometime ago that the studio would definitely like to return to the Bad Company sub-series, and that “we’ll probably see” Bad Company 3. Now, in an interview with The Guardian, he has stated that DICE hasn’t killed the Bad Company series, and that they will continue working on it.

When asked about the future of the much acclaimed console sub-series of the Battlefield franchise, Liu said: “Well, we haven’t killed Bad Company! But we can only make so many games. Be patient – there might be something else coming up…”

But he also emphasized that DICE does not want to make Battlefield an annual series, and the studio doesn’t want to outsource the series to any other developer either.

“We always have a couple of projects going on,” he continues. “Some of them die, but some are more fruitful. We don’t have any plans to make Battlefield an annual title – we want to make it ourselves we don’t want anyone else doing it! And no studio can make an annual franchise by themselves – well, the sports titles can but they’re a very different breed.”

Battlefield 3, the first main installment in the series since 2005, releases later this month for the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC. Stay tuned for more info.
