Divinity Original Sin 2 Crosses $1 Million in Crowd-Funding

Larian's upcoming sequel has more than doubled its original funding goal.

Larian Studios’ Kickstarter campaign for Divinity: Original Sin 2 has already crossed $1 million in crowd-funding with 29 days still left on the campaign. The original funding goal was set at $500,000 but 24,229 backers have since pledged $1,092,079 in the past few days.

The studio was already surprised by the quick success of the Kickstarter – it hadn’t even announced stretch goals at that point – and has offered another update on this most recent milestone.

“By the Seven! It’s crazy enough that we blasted through our original goal of $500,000 in just 12 hours, but now we’ve hit $1,000,000 on just Day 5? Unbelievable! The support we’ve received from you all has just been amazing. Thank you so much to each and every one of our backers: you’re helping this dream become a reality, and we’re very, very excited to work with you over the coming months to make this game something truly special.”

With funding over $1 million, Larian will now add Racial Skills to each class origin in Divinity: Original Sin 2. A playable undead race will be added if funding hits $1.2 million and a new location called the Hall of Echoes will be added at $1.5 million.

Divinity: Original Sin 2 is currently in development for PC, PS4 and Xbox One. An Enhanced Edition of the original game is also on the way for PS4 and Xbox One in October.
