Larian Studios has a reputation for quality, but it surpassed all expectations with Divinity: Original Sin 2 last year. Now, it’s making the critically and commercially acclaimed RPG even better with the Definitive Edition, which is now available. This marks the launch of the Xbox One and PS4 versions of the game. However, the Definitive Edition is also a free update for current owners of the PC version.
Not only that, but they also receive free DLC in the form of Sir Lora, a squirrel knight companion with his own quest. When playing the game, current owners will be able to choose from Classic and Definitive modes. Save files from Classic mode aren’t compatible in Definitive mode so you’ll have to make a new character. If you want to know all the changes, why not glean the over 50 page (!) patch notes here?
Furthermore, Larian confirmed that HDR mode would be coming later (with the editor out in a few days). If you had any mods for Classic mode, they’re incompatible with the Definitive Edition. The developer is working with modders to convert popular mods over to the Definitive Edition in due time.
