Don Mattrick doesn’t really care about Backwards Compatibility for Xbox One

Don Mattrick isn't really concerned with backward compatibility

It has been confirmed by Microsoft that Xbox One will not be able to play Xbox 360 games or Xbox Live Arcade titles, and it seems that Microsoft Head of Interactive Entertainment Business Don Mattrick doesn’t seem to be too worried regarding backwards compatibility.

“If you’re backwards compatible, you’re really backwards,” he said to Wall Street Journal.

According to him only 5% of consumers play old games from previous generation on a newer hardware. So apparently it’s not worth the hassle.

The PlayStation 4 is also not backwards compatible as far as the hardware concerned. However;  Sony said they will be using a cloud service Gaikai for the same and will look in to backwards compatible for the the PS4.

Let us know what you think of the backward compatible situation with Xbox One and PlayStation 4 in the comments below.
