DOOM’s 4K Patch For PS4 Pro and Xbox One X Doesn’t Achieve Native 4K

As per new analysis.

DOOM recently received a 4K patch for its PS4 Pro and Xbox One X versions, but as per a new analysis video posted on YouTube by VGTech, the game doesn’t hit native 4K on any of the two systems. On the PS4 Pro, after the patch, the maximum resolution achieved by the game is 1440p, but on the Xbox One X, the game does hit dynamic 4K.

As per the video, DOOM’s PS4 Pro version’s average resolution is 2560×1440, though it often drops below that, while it also uses downsampling while rendering at 1080p. On the Xbox One X, however, the resolution usually stays in the range of 2688×1512 and 3072×2160, while infrequently also hitting 3840×2160.

Meanwhile, the game’s average frame rate seems to be 57.8 FPS and 59.16 FPS on the PS4 Pro and Xbox One X respectively, which, interestingly enough, is actually lower than what it was before the patch rolled out (though, of course, the resolution was capped at 1080p too). You can get more details in the video through the link above. Stay tuned to GamingBolt for more coverage.
