While Capcom reassesses its pricing strategy for future titles in the wake of “rising development costs”, it should be interesting to see how Dragon’s Dogma 2 fares. As the first title from the publisher priced at $69.99, it’s on a much larger scale than the original and arguably carries more hype.
What are Capcom’s sales expectations for the title? Following its recent earnings report, it held a Q&A session to answer the same. Though it doesn’t “disclose sales targets” for individual titles, “We have been communicating that we consider this game to be in the million-selling class.” How many millions is unknown, but it’s seemingly considered on the level of Capcom’s other triple-A releases over the years.
Dragon’s Dogma 2 launches on March 22nd for PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC, with a demo reportedly coming soon. It’s set in an alternate world to the original but still follows the chronicles of the Arisen. While de-emphasizing fast travel in favor of more organic exploration, it offers tons of side content for players to experience, including a unique encounter with Sphinx.
