Dragon’s Dogma: Online Currently Not Planned for Western Release

Capcom's recently revealed free to play MMO is currently for Japan only.

Excited about Capcom’s Dragon’s Dogma: Online, which was recently announced today and will combine 100 player lobbies and 4 member parties with the open world and combat mechanics of the franchise that many people have come to love? You might want to put a lid on some of it – there are currently no plans to release the game outside of Japan.

This was revealed by a Capcom UK rep who told Eurogamer that there were no plans for a Western release. To an extent, it’s interesting since there are games like Capcom’s Deep Down which are also online action RPGs that seem to be stuck in Japan. Wouldn’t it be beneficial to bring Dragon’s Dogma: Online to the West, especially given the free to play nature of the game?

Plans could change somewhere down the line but for now, we’ll have to wait and see. Dragon’s Dogma: Online is currently planned for release on PS3, PS4 and PC.
